The Uganda Best Farmers Competition 2024, now in its ninth year, continues to celebrate and promote excellence in Ugandan agriculture. Organized by Vision Group in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands, DFCU Bank, KLM Airlines, and Koudijs Animal Nutrition, the competition rewards farmers who demonstrate innovation, strong management, social impact, and diversification. Winners from various sub-regions across Uganda are expected to show how they add value to their farm products—an aspect emphasized in this year’s contest to enhance post-harvest processing and value creation on farms.

This initiative not only awards cash prizes but also gives winners a transformative training experience in the Netherlands, fostering knowledge exchange and skill enhancement. Vision Group CEO Don Wanyama emphasized the importance of cooperatives in improving access to affordable inputs, training, and better market positions for Ugandan farmers. Additionally, DFCU Bank has strengthened its commitment to the competition by supporting farmers with financing options and agribusiness training through their Agribusiness Development Center, benefiting thousands of smallholder farmers, including a substantial number of female participants.

The Best Farmers Competition has significantly impacted the agriculture sector in Uganda by motivating farmers to adopt modern, sustainable practices and supporting the country’s broader agricultural development goals.
